Abstract (italiano)

The paper proposes an original reinterpretation of the problem of iconism in the light of the notion of image. Starting from a new interpretation of specific passages in Plato and Aristotle, Lo Piparo proposes a reformulation of the idea of image based on Wittgenstein’s theory of “Bild” presented in the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus and on the mathematical concept of image. Rooted in the concept of “rule”, this concept of what an image is for Franco Lo Piparo more explanatory and moreoverr heuristic than the very idea of semiotic sign.
