Abstract (english)

To teach a form of living driven by a prospective viewpoint, Karatedo is based on the retrospective viewpoint of a canonical form: stimulating the construct of a realised fighter which, in return, serves as a model for a gesture on the signifier level; challenging the subject to achieve the gesture in spite of the emotional intensity, thus assuming new choices on the signified level; and testing his capacity to interprete the canonical text according to the form of living, thus passing on a style of interpretation which may then be used to cope with a martial situation.
