Maria Pia Pozzato is Associated Professor in M-FIL/05 - Filosofia e Teoria dei linguaggi (Philosophy and Theory of Language), Department of Communication Sciences, University of Bologna.
She teaches Semiotics at the first level degree in Communication Sciences, at the second level degree in Semiotics, and at the Master in Journalism. She has been President of the second level degree in Semiotic Disciplines (2006-2009) and President of the Italian Association for Semiotic Studies (AISS) (2007-2009).
After her degree in Philosophy and her Phd in Semiotics with Umberto Eco, she has been engaged in theoretical-methodological reflections on Semiotics and performed several semiotic analyses of television, printed and broadcast information and many different cases, belonging to many different fields like popular romance, fashion, video clips, literary texts, jokes, movies, exoteric studies on Dante, town and landscape semiotics. Her latest publication is "Testi e memoria" (ed.), Il Mulino, 2010.
